We need a pick me up around here. Like a ‘Hey! It’s almost the weekend!” kick in the pants.
Why you ask? My patience and ability to run on caffeine has really been tested. I have come to find out how rough having a sick little one really is. Our little nugget came down with not only his first cold, but RSV. A deep cough that just tore me up every time I heard. Watching his little body shake with each belly cough was enough to make me want to hold him and never let him go.
If having a little one sick wasn’t enough, I came down with an awful cold and cough as well. We were quite the pair. I was overly tired due to Aiden waking up all throughout the night and my own illness kicking my booty. But somehow God gives parents a special power we aren’t aware of. An energy source that I am not quite sure where it comes from but it’s that extra push during the last leg of a race. Despite sleepless nights, I couldn’t put my little guy down and took advantage of our lazy past few days.
Besides my new profound special power, I have found a new way to put a pep in my step…this Healthy Salted Caramel Mocha Smoothie! I have found out sipping on caramel frappuccino’s on the daily isn’t exactly figure friendly, this banana mocha smoothie is.
Call Me A Cab Vodka Lemonade Wine Cocktail
- 1/2 cups cold coffee
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 packet Sweetened CocoaVia (or Cocoa powder)
- 1 small frozen banana
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 scoop chocolate or vanilla protein powder, optional*
- 3 pitted dates (soaked in hot water for 15 minutes if not soft)
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 cup of ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender and process until smooth. Serve immediately!
